Selecting detection wavelength of resonant cavity-enhanced photodetectors by guided-mode resonance reflectors.

We propose and demonstrate a novel device structure of resonant cavity-enhanced photodetector (RCE-PD). The new RCE-PD structure consists of a bottom distributed Bragg reflector (DBR), a cavity with InGaAs multiple quantum wells (MQWs) for light absorption and a top mirror of sub-wavelength grating. By changing the fill factor of the 2-D grating, the effective cavity length of RCE-PDs can be va...

Long-wavelength mid-infrared reflectors using guided-mode resonance.

We have proposed and fabricated a new mid-infrared reflector using the guided-mode resonance (GMR). The GMR reflector consists of subwavelength Ge grating on GaAs substrate with a low-refractive-index SiOx layer in between. With a total thickness of about 2 μm, a near-100% reflectivity at 8 μm has been obtained both theoretically and experimentally.

Polarization Sensing with Resonant Cavity Enhanced Photodetectors

We describe a new method of sensing the linear polarization of light using resonant cavity enhanced (RCE) photodetectors. The RCE detectors are constructed by integrating a thin absorption region into an asymmetric Fabry-Perot cavity. The top re ector is formed by the semiconductor air interface, while the bottom mirror is a Distributed Bragg Re ector (DBR). Quantum e ciency of these RCE device...

extremal region detection guided by maxima of gradient magnitude

a problem of computer vision applications is to detect regions of interest under dif- ferent imaging conditions. the state-of-the-art maximally stable extremal regions (mser) detects affine covariant regions by applying all possible thresholds on the input image, and through three main steps including: 1) making a component tree of extremal regions’ evolution (enumeration), 2) obtaining region ...

High-speed Si resonant cavity enhanced photodetectors and arrays

Over the past decade a new family of optoelectronic devices has emerged whose performance is enhanced by placing the active device structure inside a Fabry–Perot resonant microcavity @P. E. Green, IEEE Spectrum 13 ~2002!#. The increased optical field allows photodetectors to be made thinner and therefore faster, while simultaneously increasing the quantum efficiency at the resonant wavelengths....
